The short answer
Choose Rep AI if you have steady traffic and want an assistant that starts conversations with hesitant shoppers, runs upsell placements and A/B tests, and connects to a wide set of marketing tools. Choose Catchly if you want a chat that answers shoppers' own questions from your store's data, hands off to you when it is not sure, and costs a flat amount that does not grow with your traffic.

Visitor pricing and conversation pricing
Pricing by visitors means your bill follows your traffic. A sale, a mention in the press or a good ad week raises the count even if few of those visitors chat. Pricing by AI conversations means you pay for chats the AI actually answered. Neither is wrong. Visitor pricing can suit a store where the assistant reaches out to many shoppers. Conversation pricing is easier to predict when shoppers start the chat themselves.
Where Rep AI is the better choice
- You want the assistant to reach out first. Rep AI is built around spotting hesitation and starting a conversation. Catchly waits for the shopper, apart from an optional short message next to the chat button on Growth and Pro.
- You run upsell and testing programs. Rep AI lists upsell and cross sell placements and A/B testing.
- You need many integrations. Rep AI lists connections to helpdesks, SMS and email marketing tools, and mobile app builders.
- Reviews. Rep AI has reviews on the Shopify App Store. Catchly is new and has none yet.
Where Catchly is different
- A price that does not follow your traffic. Free, $19, $49 or $129 a month, billed through Shopify, with no overage.
- Built to answer only from your store. Products, collections, pages and policies. When the answer is not there, Catchly says it is not sure and offers a person or takes an email.
- No pressure wording. Catchly only says an item is low on stock when your store data shows it, and you choose whether it shows stock counts at all.
- A person one tap away. Talk to a person is always available, and you can take over any chat live from your inbox.
- Every chat can capture a lead. No sign in, and you choose when the chat asks for an email.
If you are switching
- Install Catchly and let it read your store.
- Decide whether you want a proactive message next to the chat button (Growth and Pro), and on which pages.
- Test common questions and check the store pages each answer used.
- Switch off the old assistant so only one chat shows.
Catchly is live on the Shopify App Store. Install Catchly or try the live demo.
