Leads and Shopify customers

Shoppers can chat without signing in. When they leave an email, it is saved as a lead so you can follow up.

How leads are captured

Shoppers do not have to sign in to chat. Catchly asks for an email at the moment you choose, under Settings, Email capture and alerts:

  • Before the chat starts.
  • When the AI is not sure or hands over to your team. This is the default.
  • Only when your team is offline.

When your team replies after the shopper has left, the reply is sent to the email they gave.

The Leads page

Open Leads in Catchly to see each email, the name if one was given, the marketing choice, the date, the number of chats and a link to the latest chat. A shopper shows up once, however many times they come back.

Shopify customers

On every plan, leads are added to your Shopify customer list with the tag catchly-lead, so you can find them in Shopify. The Leads page shows Yes under In Shopify customers once a lead is added.

  • A shopper who is new to your store is added as subscribed to your email marketing only if they ticked the marketing box in the chat. The box is never ticked in advance.
  • For someone who is already your customer, the chat does not change their marketing choice. It only adds the tag.

Export to CSV

On Starter and above, use Export CSV on the Leads page to download your leads.

Send leads to your email tool

On Pro, leads who agreed to marketing can be added to a Klaviyo list. See Klaviyo.

Still stuck? Email support@catchlychat.com with your store address. A person replies within 1 business day, Monday to Friday.
